Joe L. Stephens, 80

Joe Lee Stephens, 80, of the Foster Crossroads community, Oneida, passed away peacefully July 20, 2016, at home surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Roundtop, Kentucky, May 2, 1936, he was preceded in death by his parents, Luther W. and Savannah K. Taylor Stephens; children, Brenda Lee and Timothy Elmon Stevens; the mother of his children, Lela M. Ross Stevens; brothers: Prince L., Paul R., Amon L., Howard, and Cleve Roman Stephens; and sisters: Letha Stephens, Eva Klundt, Trannie Bell, Nannie Griffith, Edith Hammond, and Etta Faye Foster.

He was a member of the Foster Crossroads Baptist Church; was retired from Hartco Flooring Company; aand loved playing his guitar and singing, and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. He enjoyed raising his beagle and foxhounds and going hunting with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Glennice Boyatt Stephens of the Foster Crossroads community; children: Leota Wilson of Burnside, Ky., Cathy Stevens of Strunk, Ky., Joe Lee (Paula) Stevens, of Robbins, and Larry “Danny” (Alice) Stevens of Harrogate; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister, Charlene Strunk of Somerset, Ky.; in-laws, Shirley Reagan and Faye (George) Hicks of the Foster Crossroads community; and several nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted July 24, at Pine Knot Funeral Home. Interment followed at Smith Cemetery, Roundtop Road, Strunk, Ky.
