Fred William Ward, Jr., 78, of the Paint Rock community in Oneida, passed away September 21, 2016, at home.
Born in Blue Ridge, Georgia, February 21, 1938, he was preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. Ward, Sr. and Dorothy Mantooth Turvey.
He served in the United States Air Force; and was a member of New River Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Belva Ann Phillips Ward of the Paint Rock community; son, Johnny (Jeanine) Ward of Chatsworth, Ga.; daughters, Nora Hawkins of Chatsworth, Ga., and Rose (Jerry) Rowe of Valdosta, Ga.; step-children: Bobbie (Dick) DeBord, Donnie (Lisa) Griffith, Cheryl Humphreys, Jeff (Crystalle) Griffith, Sandy (Bob) Newport, Decie (Mike) Buttram and Nikkole (Mike) Sexton; sister: Gale Daugherty of Chatsworth, Ga.; brother, Phillip Ward of Cisco, Ga.; grandchildren: Niki McKee, Shanna Thomas, Coy Ward, Kimberly Estep and Allie Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Rheanna and Kinsley; 22 step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted September 25, at New River Baptist Church with Bro. Kermit Phillips and Bro. Ernest Phillips officiating. Interment followed at Sexton Memorial Cemetery with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
