Roy Bernard Byrd, 84, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away July 30, 2016.
Born in the Norma community, July 15, 1932, he was preceded in death by his parents, Emsley and Inda Sexton Byrd; and siblings, Hubert Byrd, Odeva Byrd, Earl Robbins, Hillard Laxton, Evelyn Byrd Boshears, and Bernice Byrd.
He retired from General Motors after 33 years; loved baseball and his favorite teams were the Tigers and the Yankees. He loved stock car and NASCAR racing, and frequenting casinos. His greatest passion was for his family.
He is survived by his son Roy (Julie) Rutherford; grandsons, Cole and Blake Rutherford; brother, Troy Byrd of Saline, Mich.; sister, Shirley (Raymond) Byrd DeLeon of Fallbrook, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
Funeral service was to have been conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel with Pastor Drex Morton officiating. Entombment was to have followed at Washtenong Memorial Park.
