Cosby Sexton, 92, of Pioneer, passed away October 3, 2016, at home
Born August 16, 1924, he was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Lily West Sexton; wife, Pauline Laxton Sexton; sons, Lonnie and Alan Sexton; grandchildren, Tracy Boshears and James Keith Sexton; great-grandchildren: A. J. Jeffers, Kenneth Isaac Bradley and Shenna Ann Sexton; sisters: Dessie Ellis, Ruth Terry and Velma Hutson; and brothers: Chester, Glen and William Ray Sexton.
He worked as a miner and was a member of Annadale Baptist Church for many years. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy who lacked only a few miles floating all the way around the world before getting orders that turned the ship back in the other direction. He was the kind of person that would help anyone he could.
He is survived by his children: Jack (Chris), Coline (Steve) West, Debra Chambers, Troy Sexton, Lloyd Sexton, Shirley Ellis, Boyd (Janette) Sexton, and Joyce (Chester) Harness; grandchildren: Sonny Sexton, Toni Chalender, Jackie Estep, Robbie and Joe Sexton, Kevin (Sexton) Lowe, John Allred, Gail Harness, Zack Allred, Taisa Wagner, Steven West, Christina Asberry, Jamie Kennedy, Patricia Bush, Susan Chambers, Anthony Sexton, Lisa Jo Stephens, J. C. Sexton, Matthew Sexton, Jennifer Sexton, Adam Sexton, Josh Sexton, Jason Sexton, Tracey Boshears, Tony Sexton, Michael Sexton, Pamela Jeffers, Dillon Harness and Ken Harness; several great-grandchildren, brother, Delmer Sexton; and several nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
Graveside service was conducted October 6, at Laxton Cemetery with Bro. Larry Ellis officiating. Full military honors were conducted by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
