Ronald (Ron) Gene Sexton, 66, of Vesuvius, Virginia, formerly of Huntsville, passed away April 17, 2016, in ICU at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC, surrounded by his family. He had suffered with pulmonary fibrosis for several years that was recently complicated by influenza and pneumonia.
Born September 3, 1949, he was preceded in death by his parents, June and Geneva Jeffers Sexton; grandparents: Jasper and Laura Chambers Sexton and Garfield and Susie Watters Jeffers; and in-laws, Col. Samuel Sullivan and Jane Chapman Whitt.
He was a graduate of Huntsville High School class of 1967 and Draughons Junior College of Knoxville. He served in the United States Army for two years as a military policeman in Ethopia, and was formerly employed by the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C. and Giant Foods in Charlottesville, Va.
He is survived by his wife, Molly Whitt Sexton of Vesuvius, Va.; son, Jonathan ìJonî (Vanessa) Sexton of Pelzer, SC; daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Giorgini of Huntsville; grandchildren, Molly, Carter and Keira Sexton, all of Pelzer, SC; sisters: Marilyn (Wilson) Wright of Franklin, Nikki Jeffery of Chattanooga, and Vicky Sexton of Oneida; other relatives, Kevin Kirkland of Knoxville, and Jeanetta Jeffers Sharp of Norma; special friends: Rev. Thomas I. Ross and Edward and Jane Harris Farrar; and many other relatives.
Memorial service was conducted April 19, at Grace Bible Church in Greenville, SC, with Rev. Thomas I. Ross officiating.
