Maggie Coomer Billingsley, 100, of Cookeville, passed away April 17, 2016.
Born in Jackson County, Tennessee, October 29, 1915, she was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Vallie Brewington Coomer; husband, Leo Billingsley; sister, Doyle Anderson; brothers, Floyd and William Coomer; and son-in-law, Jesse Hale.
She was a resident of Cookeville for the past 40 years. She and her husband raised their family in Gainsboro before moving to Oneida in 1964, then moving to Cookeville in 1978. She cared deeply for her family and didnít hold back in giving honest guidance in the Christian walk. She was industrious, as she was by her husbandís side in business endeavors in Gainsboro and Oneida. She loved quilting and gave quilts to all her grandchildren and also enjoyed the time spent with the quilting groups at church. She was faithful to the Church of Christ through membership during her life at Philadelphia, Oneida, Willow Ave. and Jefferson Ave.
She is survived by her children: Nell (Billy) Johnson and Ruth Hale, both of Hendersonville, Mai (Herb) Smith of Cookeville, David (Janie) Billingsley of Goodlettsville, Patricia Spivey of Madison, and Don (Sylvia) Billingsley of Oneida; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, sister, Lola Flatt of Cookeville; church family, and several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted April 20, at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Interment followed at Crest Lawn Cemetery.
